How
To Make Your Own Morph Files for PocketPC:
Source and Target Images:
- select at least 2 images of the child several months apart but at a similar
angle (fully looking at the camera works best)
- scan the images (see "Images" for sample
images and the resulting morph files) at adequate size (at least 350 pixesl
wide for close up of face)
- edit the images to ensure the source and target are similar in size (- mask
out backgrounds if required to minimize distraction from face)
Morph the Images:
- Use morphing software (see "Links") to
map the source and target morph key points on the images (see help file for
morph software for details on how to do this)
- create the morph AVI file
Encode File:
- To create a WMV, encode the resulting AVI with Windows Media Encoder version
8
- This is a command line tool - These are the settings I use:
- wm8eutil.exe -input "<input>.avi" -output "<output>.wmv"
-v_width 320 -v_height 240 -v_framerate 15 -v_mode 2 -a_setting 0 -v_quality
90 -v_keydist 4 -v_buffer 5000
- WMV compression is better so files encoded at similar bitrates will be smaller
than MPG files
- To create an MPG, encode the resulting AVI with AVI2MPG (see "Links")
- This is a command line tool - These are the settings I use:
- avi2mpg1.exe -n -s 240 "<input>.AVI
- MPG compression is not as high as WMV so similar sized files will not be
as clear. Larger files seem to be sharper though.
File Playback:
- Transfer the morph file to the PocketPC
- Download and install Windows Media Player 7.1 for WMV files
- Download and install PocketTV for MPG files
